Finding a unified voice
Challenge
San Francisco Friends School sought greater internal alignment on its messaging in preparation for the fall admissions cycle. The leadership team recognized the need for a shared framework that would clarify how they described the school’s program and distinctive qualities. They wanted a partner who could guide them through collaborative exercises, facilitate meaningful conversations, and ultimately produce a unifying document the team could rally around—one that would sharpen their language and ensure consistency in how they presented the school to prospective families.
Strategy
We partnered with the communications and marketing director to design and facilitate two in-person leadership team sessions over the summer. Each session included a mix of individual reflection, group discussion, and hands-on activities to ensure active participation and meaningful outcomes. Preparation for the sessions also involved a deep-dive into what a Quaker education means. The first session focused on exploration: uncovering the elements of the program that were most valued and distinctive. Building on that foundation, the second session centered on refining and prioritizing those ideas into clear, consistent talking points that the team could confidently use in conversations with prospective families.
Impact
The school now has a cohesive set of talking points that the entire leadership team feels align with their values and resonate across departments. Along the way, the conversations also surfaced other areas of meaningful work, providing additional clarity and direction for the future. As a result, San Francisco Friends School entered the admissions season with a stronger, more unified voice and a clearer framework for sharing what makes their community distinctive.
