Greenhills School in Ann Arbor, MI, was seeking a new designer to bring a fresh perspective to their school magazine. Known for its vibrant brand and dynamic community, the school wanted a publication that reflected that same energy and excellence. With a robust amount of content and spectacular photography to work with, the challenge was to create a visually compelling, well-structured magazine that celebrated the school’s spirit while elevating the overall reader experience.
Strategy
We leaned into Greenhills School’s bold visual identity by making full use of their striking brand palette – dark blue, medium green, and lime green – and showcasing their incredible photography through expansive, full-spread images. To ensure the magazine felt fresh and readable, we prioritized generous spacing and clean layouts that allowed the content to breathe, giving each story greater impact. For the primary feature, we collaborated with an outside illustrator and helped facilitate the creative direction, adding a distinctive visual layer that brought the story to life and set the piece apart.
Impact
The redesigned magazine has been a hit with the Greenhills community, resonating with readers and reinforcing the school’s vibrant brand. So far, we’ve designed two issues of Forum Magazine, both of which have been rewarding, collaborative projects. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and the publication now stands as a dynamic reflection of the school’s voice, energy, and excellence.
